It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since I first launched MWH Design to the public as an official business. In some ways the past 10 years were like a blink of an eye, but then again when I really sit and think about it I realize a lot has happened, a lot has changed, and a lot has stayed the same. I learned how operating a small business as in independent web designer has given me way more than I ever dreamed, professionally and personally.
In the beginning I was young, I can remember thinking when I was starting out that web design was a young persons business, and that I needed to prepare myself for when I’m not-so-young. Ten years later I’m on the edge of being not-so-young any more, but my desire to learn and design for the web is more pronounced today than it ever has been. Due in part to the constant evolution of things, and the fact that the way we design websites has flopped head over heals – more than once – over the years forcing those of us to constantly relearn our craft. It’s a lightning speed, adrenaline packed, beautiful palette that at times scares the living hell out of me – but I see now that the web has aged along with me, and that in hind sight matured might be a better world than evolved. I’ve learned that the internet is for everyone, and it’s this that excites my outlook for the next ten years.
So cheers to my friends, colleagues, partners, family, and clients. The past ten years have been a wild ride but I wouldn’t change a thing, we’ve all reached this milestone together so be proud, feel accomplished, but don’t stop, their is always more work to be done.
